MailerLite alternative for SaaS lifecycle emails
MailerLite is a low-cost newsletter tool. Kicklace is for SaaS founders: it reads your site, writes your lifecycle emails, and is free up to 1,000 contacts.
The short answer
MailerLite is an affordable email tool for newsletters and small-business campaigns. Its homepage says it is for creators and businesses, and it comes with a drag-and-drop editor, automations, signup forms, websites and landing pages.
Kicklace is narrower. It is for a founder who builds their own product, and it does one job: it reads your website, works out the stages your customers go through, and writes the lifecycle emails for each stage in your voice.
If you want a cheap newsletter tool with a lot of design control, MailerLite is a good pick. If the emails your product should be sending never get written, Kicklace writes them.
Where MailerLite is the better pick
- You send newsletters and campaigns. The drag-and-drop editor, the templates for newsletters, landing pages and pop-ups, and the signup forms are the core of the product.
- You want a site and forms in the same tool. MailerLite builds websites and landing pages as well as emails.
- You sell online. Its automations can start from an abandoned cart or a purchase, and it connects to Shopify, WooCommerce and Stripe.
- You want the lowest starting price. As of October 2026, paid plans start at $12 a month.
Where Kicklace is different
- It writes the emails. You do not start from a blank editor. Paste your website's address and Kicklace reads what you sell, then drafts your welcome, your nudge for people who stalled after signing up, and the rest. Try it on your own site in the demo, with no sign-up.
- The map comes first. Your customers sit on a Lifecycle map, stage by stage, and each stage carries its emails. You see what goes out and to whom.
- It hears your product. Sign-ups from Clerk or Kinde, payments from Stripe, deploys from Vercel, or one line from your own server with the kicklace package.
- No DNS on day one. Until you verify your own domain, Kicklace sends with your name on it from its own address, up to 50 a day.
- Nothing sends until you switch it on. First Kicklace shows who would have got each email over the last 30 days.
How the automations differ
MailerLite automations start from a trigger: joining a group, completing a form, clicking a link, a field changing, a date, or a purchase. You build them in a drag-and-drop builder, with up to three triggers each. For a SaaS, you would feed what your app knows into MailerLite yourself, for example by updating a field or moving someone to a group, and then build and write each automation.
As of October 2026, the free plan includes three active automations with up to five steps each. A small lifecycle reaches that quickly: a welcome, a nudge, a thank-you for paying and a failed-card note make four.
With Kicklace the stages and their emails are drafted for you, and a sequence hangs off a stage instead of off triggers you wire up by hand.
Price
As of October 2026, MailerLite's free plan covers up to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month. Paid plans start at $12 a month (Comfort) and $25 a month (Power). Removing the MailerLite logo is listed on the paid plans, and new accounts get a 14-day trial of the paid features.
Kicklace is free up to 1,000 contacts, sending from its own address with your name on it. Your own domain is part of Starter, $25 a month. The details are on pricing.
Which one to pick
Pick MailerLite if you send newsletters or campaigns, want to design them yourself and want the lowest bill. Pick Kicklace if you want the lifecycle emails your product should already be sending, written from what your site and product say, so you can get back to building.

FAQ
Is MailerLite good for a SaaS?
It can send a welcome, a nudge and a thank-you, and it is a fine choice if you also send a newsletter. The work is yours, though: you decide the triggers, keep your app's data in sync, and write every email. If that is the part you never get to, Kicklace starts you with the stages and a draft of each email.
Can I move my MailerLite subscribers to Kicklace?
Export your subscribers from MailerLite as a CSV file and choose it under Your people. They come in as contacts, and nothing sends because of an import. A list needs the words your people agreed to, kept beside them. Moving from another CRM has the steps.
Do I need to write any code?
No. One script tag on your site is enough to start, and Stripe, Clerk and Vercel connect without code. The kicklace package is there if you want to report what people do in your app.
