A lighter HubSpot alternative for a solo or small SaaS

HubSpot is a full CRM with sales and service tools. Kicklace does one job for a small SaaS: follow-up emails written for you. Free up to 1,000 contacts.

The short answer

HubSpot is a platform: a CRM with marketing, sales and service tools around it. That is a lot to learn and configure when you are one person building a product and you only wanted the emails to go out. Kicklace does one job. It reads your website, works out the stages your customers go through, and writes the emails for each stage in your voice, so the follow-up happens without a CRM to run.

If you have a sales team, a deal pipeline or a service desk, HubSpot is the better pick. If you want your customers followed up with and have no one to run a CRM, Kicklace is the lighter tool.

Where HubSpot is the better pick

  • A real CRM. As of October 2026, HubSpot's free CRM lists contact management, deals, a form builder, live chat and a reporting dashboard. Kicklace has no deals and no live chat.
  • Sales and service in the same place. If you hire someone to sell, or to answer support, HubSpot has hubs for both. Kicklace is for the founder who does it alone.
  • A free start with room above it. HubSpot's free tools are free for up to two users, and its paid Marketing Hub plans add more automation as you grow.
  • Ads and reporting. HubSpot lists ad automation and reporting dashboards, which Kicklace does not try to cover.

Where Kicklace is different

  • It starts from your website. Paste your site's address and Kicklace reads what you sell, what it is built with and what forms it has. Then it writes your welcome, your nudge for people who signed up and stalled, and the rest. See it on your own site in the demo, with no sign-up.
  • A working map from the start. Kicklace proposes your stages and writes the first emails, so you begin with something to edit instead of an empty screen. Your customers sit on a Lifecycle map at the stage they reached, worked out from what they did, never set by hand.
  • Made for a product, not a sales team. It hears sign-ups from Clerk or Kinde, payments from Stripe, deploys from Vercel, or one line from your own server with the kicklace package.
  • Nothing sends until you switch it on. Before you do, Kicklace shows who would have got it over the last 30 days.
  • No DNS on day one. Until you verify your own domain, Kicklace sends with your name on it from its own address, up to 50 a day.

Price

As of October 2026, HubSpot's free plan is for up to two users and includes 2,000 email sends a month, with HubSpot branding. Marketing Hub Starter is priced per seat. Marketing Hub Professional is $800 a month billed annually, or $890 billed monthly, with 2,000 marketing contacts included and a one-time onboarding fee of $3,000.

Kicklace is free up to 1,000 contacts, sending from its own address with your name on it. Your own domain is part of Starter, $25 a month. The details are on pricing.

Which one to pick

Pick HubSpot if your business runs on a sales pipeline, you want one system for sales, marketing and support, and you have the time or the people to set it up. Pick Kicklace if you are a solo or small SaaS and what is missing is the follow-up: the welcome, the nudge, the note when a card fails, the check-in from you (the short list of emails every SaaS should send has them all). You can also use both: keep HubSpot for deals and live chat, and let Kicklace handle the lifecycle emails.

FAQ

Can I move from HubSpot to Kicklace?

Yes. When Setup reads your site and finds a HubSpot form, it offers to move you off it, with your own form to put where the old one was. Export your contacts as a CSV file and choose it under Your people. They come in as contacts, and nothing sends because of the import. Moving from another CRM says what HubSpot does that Kicklace does not, so you can keep using it for those.

Does Kicklace replace HubSpot's deals and live chat?

No. Keep HubSpot for those if you need them. Kicklace covers the follow-up emails and the map of where each customer stands.

Do I need to write any code?

No. One script tag on your site is enough to start, and Stripe, Clerk and Vercel connect without code.
