Moving from another CRM

Bring your people with you, and put your own form where the old one was.

Kicklace is meant to take the old tool's place, not sit beside it. When Setup reads your site and finds a form from HighLevel, HubSpot, Jotform, Typeform, Google Forms or Mailchimp, it offers to move you off it. You'll see Move from HubSpot (or whichever it is) on Setup → Hear it and on Settings → Connections → Your website.

Swap the form

The card gives you your own form to put where the old one was. For most tools that's your Get in touch form: name, email, phone and a message, wearing your name and colours. For Mailchimp it's your list's own signup form.

Paste the line where the old form's embed was, or link a button to it. See the form opens it so you can try it first.

Whoever sends it lands on your Lifecycle map as a new lead.

Bring your people

Export your contacts from the old tool as a CSV file and choose it under Your people. Kicklace reads the names, emails and phone numbers out of it and says how many it found before anything happens.

They come in as contacts: they're in Mail and in search, and you can email any of them one to one, but they're not on your map yet. Somebody steps onto the map the first time they do something, like filling in your form or paying you.

Nothing sends because of an import.

Moving from Mailchimp

Mailchimp's people agreed to your list at Mailchimp, but its export doesn't say what they agreed to, and Kicklace only emails a list with the words people agreed to kept beside them.

So when the file is a Mailchimp audience export, Kicklace asks two more things:

  • Which of your lists they go on. Or none, and they come in as contacts.
  • What your Mailchimp form said. Type the sentence your signup form showed, like "Get our monthly newsletter."

Kicklace keeps that sentence as each person's consent, dated from when they joined at Mailchimp, with the IP address they joined from, where Mailchimp kept it. Each one is marked as typed at import, so it's always clear the words came from you rather than from their own sign-up.

People who unsubscribed at Mailchimp, or whose address Mailchimp cleaned, are written down as having left the list. A later import can't put them back on.

What stays behind

The card says plainly what the old tool did that Kicklace doesn't. HighLevel's texting and missed-call text back, for example, or HubSpot's deals and live chat. Keep using the old tool for those if you need them.

Some tools aren't offered a move at all, because Kicklace doesn't replace them: your booking calendar, and the software that runs your jobs, like Jobber or Housecall Pro.
