Kicklace vs HubSpot
HubSpot is a sales and marketing platform for go-to-market teams. Kicklace is lightweight customer infrastructure for a software product with no marketing team behind it.
What HubSpot is
In HubSpot's own words, put into ours, from their own site.
HubSpot is a customer platform for go-to-market teams. Its own site describes marketing, sales and customer service software on one platform, sold as hubs — Marketing, Sales, Service, Content, Data, Revenue and an agent hub — around a shared CRM, with solutions named for small businesses, mid-market and enterprise.
It is the wide end of this market: campaigns, landing pages, forms, sequences, tickets and reporting, meant for a company where marketing and sales are jobs somebody has.

What Kicklace is
The one sentence, and what it means beside HubSpot.
Kicklace is an AI-powered CRM and customer platform for micro SaaS companies. There are no hubs to buy, because there is one thing: the record of a person and everything that happened to them.
HubSpot is a sales and marketing platform. Kicklace is lightweight customer infrastructure — the smallest thing that keeps a customer record honest, sends the emails people agreed to, and does the follow-up, for a product with no marketing team behind it.
Side by side
What each one is for, rather than a list of ticks. A tick list written by one of the two sides is an argument, not a fact.
| What is compared | Kicklace | HubSpot |
|---|---|---|
| Who it is for | KicklaceSmall software companies — a product run by one person or a few, whose customers arrive on their own through a website, a sign-up and a checkout. | HubSpotGo-to-market teams — marketing, sales and service — with solutions named for small businesses through to enterprise. |
| What a record is | KicklaceOne person, from the anonymous first visit to the email address, the account, the subscription and the purchase — one record across devices, with the first source they came from kept forever. | HubSpotA contact in a CRM shared by whichever hubs you have bought. |
| How a stage moves | KicklaceWorked out from what the person did. An event arrives and the stage moves; nobody drags a card to keep it true. | HubSpotLifecycle stages and deal stages you configure, moved by a person or by a workflow you build. |
| Where the data comes from | KicklaceA script tag on your website, one npm package in your server, and doors that need no code of yours: Stripe, Clerk, Kinde, Vercel, GitHub. Email in and out lands on the record too. | HubSpotTheir own hubs — forms, content, ads, email and a data hub — feeding one CRM. |
| What the AI does | KicklaceCharts from a question, automations written in plain English, a paragraph on every record, and an assistant inside the app. One switch turns all of it off, every plan has a daily allowance, and the model itself never sends: it drafts, or it asks. | HubSpotTheir own site calls the platform agentic and names an agent hub across the software. |
| How follow-up works | KicklaceOne sentence: when this happens, wait, only if, then do this. Email goes only to people who agreed to that list, with the words they agreed to stored beside them. | HubSpotMarketing automation, sequences and workflows across the hubs. |
| What it costs | KicklacePlanned. Nothing is charged yet, and the pricing page says so. | HubSpotSee their pricing page. |
Which to choose
Theirs first, because most of the time the honest answer to a comparison page is the other product.
Choose HubSpot if…
Choose HubSpot if you have a marketing team and a sales team, campaigns to run, landing pages to build and a pipeline to forecast, and you want all of it under one roof. Kicklace has none of that and is not trying to.
Choose Kicklace if…
Choose Kicklace if the company is one person or a few, there is no marketing team, and what you actually need is to stop losing people between Stripe, your auth provider, your mailing tool and a spreadsheet. It is a smaller thing on purpose.
This is a comparison of scope, not of quality. HubSpot is built for a company that has grown into it; Kicklace is built for the years before that, and says so.
Questions
- Is Kicklace a HubSpot alternative?
- For a company of one to five people, it covers the part of HubSpot such a company actually uses: the customer record, the lists, the emails and the follow-up. It covers none of the rest, and it will not grow into it.
- Can I run marketing campaigns in Kicklace?
- No. There are no ads, no landing pages and no CMS. What there is: lists that store the sentence each person agreed to, templates, broadcasts, one-to-one email from your own domain, and automations written as one sentence.
- Do I have to buy separate hubs?
- There is nothing to buy separately. The planned plans are priced by how many people can sign in; workspaces, people on record and emails are unlimited on all of them, and the pricing page lists what each plan includes beyond that. Nothing is charged yet either way.
- Can I move to HubSpot later if we grow?
- Yes, and you should if the shape of the company changes. Every view exports as CSV, everything held about one person exports as JSON from their own page, and the consent record travels with the person, which is the part that matters when you move a mailing list.
